Committees & Councils

The SHBA is a membership-driven Association. None of our events or initiatives would be possible without the hard work of our committees. For more information on SHBA committees, please contact the staff representative below, and be on the look-out for new opportunities to get involved in one of these dynamic and active groups.

Councils:

Inland Northwest Built Green®:  Promotes sustainable construction by educating the building industry and public about the benefits of green building. Annual membership dues are $300 builder/$100 associate.
Meeting Time: 2nd Tuesday of the month @3:30p.m.

Remodelers Council:  Provides education to increase professionalism in the local remodeling industry and conducts community service projects. Also includes a Referral service. Annual membership dues are $60.
Meeting Time: 1st Wednesday of the Month at 7:00 A.M. – Meeting place may change each month

Education:

Apprenticeship & Training Committee:  Sets classroom structure and day-to-day activities for the SHBA Apprenticeship program. Also hears & adjusts complaints, maintains standards for employee advancement and growth, as well as employer instruction.
Meeting Time: 1st Monday of the Month at 5:30 P.M.

Education Committee: Sets the annual schedule of educational courses and seminars to provide business and industry information to the SHBA members and their employees.

Premier Home Improvement Show Steering Committee:  Provides overall guidance, direction and financial determinations for the annual Premier Home Improvement Show held in April.

Golf Tournament Committee:  Provides overall guidance, directions and financial determinations for the annual SHBA Golf Tournament held in June.

Showcase of Homes (SOH) Steering: Gives overall guidance, directions and financial determinations for the Showcase of Homes (Comprised of the sub-committee chairs and representative for the development).

Fall Festival of Homes Committee:  
Provides overall guidance, directions and financial determinations for the Fall Festival of Homes (Scattered site new home construction).

Government Affairs:

Community Builders Trust (PAC):  Focuses the membership’s collective resources to actively participate in influencing state and local issues, candidates and elected officials that impact the building industry.

Government Affairs Committee:  Reviews information on local legislation that affects the building industry and general business community and recommends Association policies and strategies.

Membership Services:

Membership Committee:  A fun group focused on growing the Association through member recruitment. Educates members on the rewards of Association membership and reviews additional member benefit programs. Also charged with setting member recruitment incentive programs

Membership Retention Sub-Committee:  Members provide outreach to new and renewing members as a means of engaging them in Association activities.
