Three Associations to Represent You
Membership in the Spokane Home Builders Association includes membership in its two affiliated organizations, the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). You receive publications and member benefits from all three Associations.
BIAW exists to unite those in the building industry in Washington State in their fight against a government that has made this industry the most regulated in the nation. BIAW also offers a variety of programs and services including return on industrial insurance, health insurance, legal, and safety assistance and education programs. BIAW represents over 12,000 companies in the home building industry in Washington State.
NAHB is a federation of 830 state and local associations representing more than 232,000 building industry professionals. NAHB's mission is to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry, and to promote policies that keep housing a national priority. Founded in 1942 and headquartered in Washington, DC, NAHB has grown to become the most influential housing industry trade association in the world.
Insurance Programs to Save You Money
The BIAW Health Insurance Program provides a broad range of medical, dental, vision and life insurance plans. As one of the largest multiple employer health care purchasing alliances in the Northwest, we are able to provide rates 15% to 25% below the rest of the market and consistency in the rates (less than 3% annual rate increase in '05 and '06).
Affinity Exclusive Member Discount Programs to Save You Money
The Return on Industrial Insurance (R.O.I.I.) program is the largest L&I Refund program in the state and participating companies receive an average 22% return on their premiums paid to L&I. Participants also receive free professional claims management assistance and free safety consultations. Truly a benefit that pays YOU!
Member Advantage: As a member you benefit directly from the Discount programs negotiated by NAHB. Discounts come from GM, Dell Computers, and FedEx to name a few. Locally members in the construction trades can receive a 22% monthly discount off their cell bill from Verizon.
Marketing Opportunities to Make You Money
We actively promote our belief that members should do ''Business with Members''. The Association provides numerous opportunities for members to network and showcase their products and services to other members and the general public. Monthly Membership meetings, Nothing but Networking events and Special events (i.e. Fall Festival of Homes, Premier Home Show) provide members with the perfect opportunity to network. We Educate You and Your Employees
Learn great new ideas and gain public credibility through the many Educational Courses offered through the SHBA. The seminars and programs offered through the Association provide valuable information for both business owners and their employees. The SHBA provides numerous designation programs by offering credited courses in cooperation with the BIAW and the NAHB.
The Association also offers a Carpentry Apprenticeship training program to systematically produce highly skilled workers for our industry. Member companies participate by hiring apprentices or sending their current employees through the program.

The SHBA offers exciting membership competitions throughout the year that provide trips and rewards to participating membership recruiters. We also hold exciting events like the annual golf tournament for the membership to relax and enjoy fellowship with your peers in the building industry.
