Spokane Home Builders Association (SHBA) members and staff presented Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) “Defender of Housing” award earlier this week.
Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers was presented with the award following a visit to a local residential construction job site and discussion of federal legislative priorities with SHBA members.
“Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers has been a champion in Congress for the building industry” said Arthur Whitten, SHBA Government Affairs Director “We thank the Congresswoman for recognizing the community benefits of home ownership and the significant contributions that home building makes to our local economy through her work in Congress.”
To be considered for the “Defender of Housing” award, SHBA nominated Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers who was later approved by NAHB elected leaders. NAHB reserves the “Defender of Housing” award for members of Congress that demonstrate strong support for pro-housing policies and building industry related issues such as trade and regulatory reform.
“It is our pleasure to be able to present Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers with the NAHB Defender of Housing Award,” said Joel White, SHBA Executive Officer “Cathy and her office have always been available and responsive to our Association and continue to represent the issues before the local building industry which strives to keep housing affordable and the American dream of home ownership within reach.”.
